Downloading my purchases - The Crafty Witches website

How to get the files on my computer

What happens when I make my purchase?

Once you have completed your transaction on the website, you will see the following confirmation on-screen:

This contains information like the order number, the value of the order, or if you have used your Coven Club voucher, like here, it tells you ‘Free order’, and of course the item you purchased.

Then, you’ll receive an email with your order confirmation, which will include a tax invoice for your purchase, along with the order details. In this case you can see the order is awaiting processing; this is because it is a free order therefor requires verification from the operations team

What happens after I make my purchase?

If you have had a Free order the next email sent will confirm that the order status has changed. (You won’t receive that email on paid orders)

 Then the ‘magical’ email arrives:

The colours on your screen may be different, but the second ‘blue’ link here is where the magic happens; but first let’s have a spell looking at the other parts of this email first:

1. The unique order reference.

2. Remember for security reasons, the link will expire in 5 days (120 hours) from point of sale.

3. The collection you purchased.

4. The unique download link: you cannot have this re-sent to you later, so you may wish to keep the email.

5. The size of the file, don’t panic it’s a techy thing, we’ll come to that later.

Click the link ‘4’ and the download will automatically start to download to your device. Depending on the device, it’s operating system and your browser this will look different here, suffice to say, whatever device you use it is likely you will know where this will end up but in general terms you’ll need to hit the folder icon and find the folder ‘Downloads’ where you can find your download ready to unzip/decompress:

I have questions!

·        Why do I only get 5 days to download, when others give me forever?

The answer is simple, for security. Our web provider has this in place, so we cannot change the facility even if we wanted to, but do not worry, you will not have to repurchase if the link expires or if you lose, or accidentally delete your collection; simply drop us an email and well arrange to reactivate the link or send an alternative link so you can re-download it.

·        In number 5 what does 714.14M mean?

Sorry, there is no option but to get techy here, so we’ll try to keep it simple; 1 printable sheet is around 2-15MB in size, (A MegaByte ‘M’, or ‘MB’ is a unit if measure). The size will depend on the graphical complexity of the design. We have a whole section dedicated to this in our library. It only really makes a difference to you when you need to consider the download, unzipping or transfer to USB time.

·        My download the other day took moments, why is my Pollyanna one taking forever?

Yes, that may be correct. Looking back at your previous question, it’s to do with the size of file, and your internet connection speed. Check out the help file ‘Large Downloads’ in the library.

·        I’m a Coven Club member, but my discount hasn’t been applied?

You need to be ‘logged in’ to your account, for the system to pick your discount up. Use the ‘My Account Details’ button on the home-screen of the website

·        I used my Coven Club voucher, so my order was free, it’s still showing ‘awaiting’?

To enable the web provider, and for our security, free orders have to be verified by one of the Witches. We only have limited resources, so if Becky and Lynda are brewing a potion, they may not be on the website. If you have been waiting longer than usual, just drop us an email and we’ll get it sorted for you.

·        I’m not getting any email from you, what is going on?

We live in an age of automated security, so some email systems automatically block what it deems to be ‘spam’. This can happen with email with ‘links’ in them. Check your ‘spam’ or ‘trash’ folders and see if they are there. If not, drop us an email, and we will look into it. Remember if there is a problem, we may not be able to email you back, so feel free to leave us a phone number so we can contact you if you wish.

·        You talk about unzipping, and decompressing what is that about?

This process and format is the best way to deliver multiple files securely and the best way to ensure no data is removed or lost in the process. Check the ‘Unzipping’ guides, to find all you need to know.
